How Does Fire Alarm Monitoring Work?
In the event of a fire, the initiating device sends a signal to the Fire Alarm Control Panel. From there, the signal is transmitted to a third party Alarm Monitoring Station, who will in turn notify the fire department or property owner of the signal, and determine if the signal requires fire department dispatch.

In the case of an alarm event, the monitoring station will automatically notify the fire department to dispatch. It is required that commercial buildings have such fire alarm systems in place - and for good reason.

Monitoring Trouble Signals & Leak Detection
Aside from fire department dispatch, another key role that fire alarm monitoring plays is in notifying property owners when a fire system needs maintenance or repair. For example, when a dry pipe fire sprinkler system loses air pressure it is detected by a pressure switch. The pressure switch sends the signal to the fire alarm panel and notifies the alarm monitoring station of the condition. In this situation, if air pressure drops low enough, the dry valve will trip, introducing water to the system causing a false fire alarm and potentially expensive repairs. Becoming aware of the low air signal prior to system activation gives the property owner time to call Peak Fire to repair the issue prior to it becoming an expensive mishap. There are a wide range of supervisory and trouble conditions that can compromise a fire system and being aware of an issue promptly helps keep your systems working at their full potential.

Daily Test Signals
Part of your fire system monitoring subscription will include a "Daily Test Signal". The purpose of the signal is to ensure that your Fire Alarm Control Panel is communicating with the third-party monitoring station. If a communication trouble is found, the monitoring company will notify you so that the issue can be addressed and resolved.
